Painting With Dee! – Episode 1 – Make an Abstract Painting with Tape
Abstract painting with tape
…is a lot of fun! It’s really easy. You might even be surprised at your own results. In this first episode of my new video series, “Painting With Dee!” you get to see how easy it is to create something truly unique!
In real time, this entire project required at least 12 hours (including drying time). However, through the magic of time lapse photography and editing, you can watch the entire process from start to finish in under 5 minutes! How cool is that?
It’s a lot of fun to see what kind of patterns you can create using Blue painter’s masking tape to create abstract works of art. Just by putting it down in different places, you can even apply it to layers you’ve already painted to push things even further!
Of course, the trick is to pull up the tape once you’re finished painting to reveal the patterns and colors in each underlying layer. Let the paint dry really well before you pull up the tape. Setting the drying canvas in front of a fan helps speed the process. But you’ll want to be careful of any flying debris that might get pulled in and stuck to the paint. Once some dirt or debris gets in there, it can be extremely difficult to lift it up without ruining all of your hard work.
You Try It!
So, go ahead and experiment! All you need are acrylic paints in various colors, Blue masking tape, and your imagination. You’ll be able to create an abstract painting with tape in no time.
Thanks for watching! And if you create anything you really like, be sure to let me know. I’d love to see what kind of paintings I can inspire other people to create!
